Music to Enjoy While Reading Molly Harper Books

I always make playlists when I start a new project. It helps me feel separated from the real world and part of the one I'm creating. While I have several go-to songs and artists - Hans Zimmer is the background soundtrack to my brain - each list has its own mood.

For Starfall Point, I needed to create LONGING and moments of badassery. Each of the ghosts of Shaddow House wants SOMETHING and apparently that something required Fleetwood Mac. SO MUCH Fleetwood Mac.

For Moonshadow Cove, I needed underwater depths and epic battle modes ... so more Hans Zimmer. There's a fair amount of Florence + The Machine on there, which to me always feels like listening to a mermaid's lament, and of course, more Fleetwood Mac.

For A CUTE LITTLE MURDER, there was a very specific need to rework the music of Lainey's youth into jazzy, bluesy tunes that fit with the 1920s vibes of the Crossings Hotel. So Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox was super helpful there. (There was very little Fleetwood Mac.)

We'll talk about the playlist for TREE DADDY some other time. But I swear there's a reason for all the 1980s hair metal.

I've posted the playlists in the Fun Stuff area of the web site. I recently created Spotify entries for all of them. ENJOY!
